IMPORTANT NOTE ON OPENJDK:
with introduction of latest Jetty HTTP server (used by Unity) it was observed that Firefox browser have troubles connecting to Unity launched on some of the OpenJDK distributions (e.g. Fedora). This is due to disabling EC TLS ciphers in affected OpenJDK. In case of troubles please use Oracle Java RE.
GENERAL INFORMATION ABOUT THE RELEASE:
There are two distribution formats:
- tar.gz bundle which can be unpacked and this way installed in a single directory,
- rpm which can be installed system-wide in the Linux standard locations.
The rpm is build and tested on Centos 7, noarch. It should work flawlessly also on SL7 and recent Fedora distributions. We may build packages for other distributions in future, however the tar.gz format should be fully portable. Java 8 JRE is the primary installation prerequisite. For more detailed installation information please check the Unity manual.
2.3.X RELEASE SERIES
Release 2.3.0 provides two significant changes:
- Emails sent from Unity can have content type set to PLAN or (new) HTML. What is more a new type of message template was introduced: generic. Generic templates are not sent on their own, but can be included in other templates. This way a site wide message templates (err… templates of templates actually as after including generic headers and footers there are still dynamic variables inside) can be easily managed. And yes – Unity comes now with nice HTML emails available out of the box.
- SAML metadata discovery and management subsystem was completely rewritten to eliminate the issues which were quite often brought by our users. The new implementation is significantly simpler, better tested and should be more stable.
Upgrade from 2.2.0 is fully automatic. The old configuration syntax is supported, note however that a new (preferred) variant of msgTemplate.properties file is now supported. If upgrading the existing message templates won’t be overwritten so you have to update them manually – Unity snippets can be found in the new configuration subfolder – msgTemplates.
